Trinity Strand Trail
Dallas, TX
$12 Million
Overview
RoeschCo Construction performed the work associated with both Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the Trinity Strand Trail in Dallas, delivering nearly five miles of hike and bike trail through a wide range of challenging environments. The combined project traverses floodways and active stream corridors, dense urban street settings, and DART right-of-way, requiring careful coordination across infrastructure, utilities, and public access. The scope included nearly 60,000 square feet of concrete modular block retaining walls, a custom modular block headwall and spillway, and a 190-foot single-span pedestrian bridge. Additional work included replacement of four signalized street crossings, installation of miles of pedestrian railing, and construction of numerous site furnishings, landscape, and hardscape elements to support long-term public use. Several segments of the project presented significant construction challenges. Modular block retaining walls were installed in low-clearance conditions beneath Wycliffe Avenue and within the active waterway of Turtle Creek. Along the segment from Harry Hines Boulevard to Turtle Creek Boulevard, the project required complete removal of the right travel lane of Market Center Boulevard and replacement with hike and bike trail. This work also involved relocation and adjustment of dozens of utilities, all of which RoeschCo performed in house. Together, Phases 1 and 2 deliver a continuous, highly visible trail corridor that integrates structural, transportation, and environmental considerations within one of Dallas’s most complex urban settings.
