Lemmon Avenue
Dallas, TX
$30 Million
Overview
The Lemmon Avenue Streetscape Enhancements project, delivered in partnership with the City of Dallas and the Department of Aviation, is the most comprehensive project in RoeschCo’s portfolio to date. The work spans 2.5 miles along Lemmon Avenue between Bachman Lake and Mockingbird Lane and includes a continuous hike and bike trail system supported by major infrastructure and public space improvements. The centerpiece of the project is the George Coker Aircraft Observation Deck, a landmark public destination adjacent to Dallas Love Field. This feature includes custom steel shade canopies with internally lit polycarbonate and perforated aluminum roofing, limestone clad walls, granite paving, integrated viewing elements, site furnishings, and a custom airport monument sign. Supporting work included new parking, roadway improvements, drainage, landscaping, and irrigation. A significant portion of the scope involved the relocation and expansion of approximately 8,700 square feet of MSE wall within FAA property along Shorecrest Drive. Construction required innovation of extensive dewatering using a double wellpoint system due to shallow groundwater conditions. Additional improvements included the complete revitalization of Midway Manor Park with new playgrounds, a custom basketball court developed in partnership with the Dallas Mavericks, custom concrete seatwalls, steel shade canopies, and fully irrigated landscaping. At the southern end of the corridor, the Primary Gateway included reconstruction of the Love Field runway approach and installation of approximately half a mile of integrally colored concrete retaining wall with custom aluminum fascia panels and architectural backlighting. Across the corridor, trail improvements included more than 250 new street lights, replacement of three signalized intersections, seven trail respite areas with shade canopies and seatwalls, and more than 17 acres of hardscape and landscaped areas, delivering a highly visible and durable public infrastructure corridor.
