: Promise Home Orphanage
: Toyas, Honduras
Promise Home Orphanage is near and dear to our heart. We are honored to be able to help on this project.
In a country where 50% of the population lives under the poverty level many families cannot afford to provide for their children. Some of those children are forced to live in the street and garbage dumps, begging and digging through trash to be able to eat. It is the goal of Promise Home to rescue some of these children, giving them a home, education and work skills.
We worked in the design and construction of 9 above ground tilapia ponds that will be used to raise fish that can be sold to help support the orphanage and provide employment for the local population. We also worked in the design and construction of a 2000 square-foot building that could be used for assorted purposes as the construction of the complex progressed.
During the 3 trips necessary for construction, RoeschCo sent a 2-man team and then used local labor to build the structures. The laborers learned how to use the Symon Forming and Shoring System in the construction of the tilapia ponds. It was the first time that product had ever been used in Honduras. The local laborers were also taught to work with concrete and masonry.
